Every year we compete in the national championships organised by the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS).
There are few national singing events like it. Some 2,500-3,000 barbershop singers descend on a seaside resort or convention town for a May bank holiday weekend.
By competing in the event on an annual basis, we can see how well we are improving against the other choruses in the country, and how we have improved against our own scores from previous years.
We are singers first and foremost, but we have a competitive edge to us as well. We’ve reached the top 10 UK barbershop choruses before, and we aim to get there again. We’re currently ranked 12th.
Barbershop standards are getting higher every year, and the competition fiercer, which means we have to work harder. There’s a renewed sense of enthusiasm with our new Chorus Director Sean Bui, and a determination to be the very best we can.
